Action Autism Interviews and Conversations!

At Action Autism, we believe that the best way to break stigmas and foster understanding is by listening. That’s why we interviewed dozens of self-advocates, parents of Autism, educators, therapists, and community leaders — spotlighting their stories, struggles, and successes.

Through our podcast and YouTube series, we aim to amplify the voices of those with lived experience and expertise in autism. These conversations bring awareness to the diverse ways autism shows up in people's lives and create a space for empathy, education, and advocacy.

Action Autism interviews Martin Slyngstad!

In this episode of the Action Autism podcast’s “Mind Matters” segment, hosts Arshia Singh and Anvesha Bhagat speak with Martin Slyngstad, a disability advocate, entrepreneur, DJ, Special Olympics athlete, and public speaker based in San Jose, California. Martin reflects on his journey growing up with autism, starting as a nonverbal child and navigating social and academic challenges due to limited understanding and support. Despite experiences with bullying and isolation, he turned adversity into purpose, becoming a powerful voice for the neurodivergent community.

Martin shares key accomplishments, including founding Spire Autism, an organization that trains first responders, educators, and sports teams on how to support autistic individuals. He also organizes sensory-friendly Autism Acceptance Nights across the country and creates inclusive environments in schools and public spaces. In addition to his advocacy, Martin is a DJ who produces original music and is currently writing a book to further amplify his message. Notably, he was honored as San Jose’s Disability Advocate of the Year, a recognition of his tireless efforts to drive change. He emphasizes the need for acceptance, not just awareness, and highlights the value of empathy, quiet spaces, and everyday kindness. Martin leaves listeners with a message of hope, reminding us that autistic individuals deserve to be seen, celebrated, and uplifted as leaders and changemakers.
